04:44McThurahT: :-)
05:47frg_awayGreetings ewong
06:06ewongfrg_away: Good morning!
06:11frg_awayWG9s I still prefer the traditional output from make but mach should work fine too.
07:05Mchm, fact is abandoning a project means abandoning its users. i think we know why we prefer sm over other solutions
07:09frg_awayMc Don't see it for SM but the comments in mozillazine are somewhat ....
07:13Mcfrg_away: i mean people who abandoned it in the past. if these read the log they may know whom
07:24Mcthe comments could be less ad hominem... the future is unknown, but fashionable ;-)
09:06frg_awayMc: Well my magic wand which will fix all problems is now out of warranty and no longer working :) For people who let: Its open source . They have no obligation to continue.
12:06Mcnot? sure?
12:41werwolfhi there, Fx stopped to support XP, What will be last SM version for it?
12:53Mcwerwolf: you may understand what's meant here, i don't ;-)
12:54werwolfGreat :D
12:54werwolfI love you!
12:54werwolfI installed SP3 now :D
12:55Mcif it helps ;-)
12:56werwolfit does not, but is a step forward
12:56werwolfa little one of course
17:10libertyernieIf Ratty ever comes back tell him thanks for doing all that devtools work. Without the dev tools I probably wouldn't be using SM.
17:10libertyernieBrowser Toolbox is especially nice for addons.
17:23WG9sBTW I am trying to bisect the issue in bug 1365811. so far it looks like a Mozilla-central change that we eirther need to get reverted or change to be compatible with.
17:23thebotBug cri, --, ---, nobody, NEW, No content in Browser/Sidebar. Build is not usable
17:28frg_awayWG9s. I just added Bug 888915 to the list of severe/blocker bugs in bug 1345770. Building just now but I expect that comm-central is just about broken right now. Not sure if the sidebar issue is caused by this.
17:28thebotBug blo, --, ---, nobody, NEW, Convert SeaMonkey Downloads Manager to Downloads.jsm
17:29thebotBug nor, --, ---, nobody, NEW, SeaMonkey 2.52 malfunctions/errors
17:40frg_awayWG9s Apply the patches in Bug 888915 bug 1364677 bug 1364698 bug 1364977 and check what is still broken.
17:40thebotBug blo, --, ---, nobody, NEW, Convert SeaMonkey Downloads Manager to Downloads.jsm
17:40thebotBug blo, P1, ---, frgrahl, ASSI, SeaMonkey location bar broken after bug 1353542 [Switch to async/await from Task.jsm/yield]
17:40thebotBug maj, --, ---, frgrahl, ASSI, Port Bug 1157709 [Remove PlacesUtils.asyncGetBookmarkIds] to SeaMonkey
17:40thebotBug cri, P3, ---, frgrahl, ASSI, e-mail compose in SeaMonkey crashes [@ InvalidArrayIndex_CRASH | nsTArray_Impl<T>::ElementAt | nsCom
17:47WG9sfrg_away: those are all bugs files from before this was ever broken, so I think I will just continue forward with my bisect for now.
17:48frg_awayWG9s The old download manager was just removed yesterday so bug 888915 might apply.
17:49thebotBug blo, --, ---, nobody, NEW, Convert SeaMonkey Downloads Manager to Downloads.jsm
17:51WG9sfrg_away: actually that was the one I was really looking at because even though on thunderbird it seem to only fail tests. the error messages looked so similar.
19:32wyatt8740Do we have any plan for what to do when mozilla fires its next shot into its foot?
19:35wyatt8740any plans for a gecko fork, for instance? Goanna, maybe? Is that even a valid option?
19:37wyatt8740(is it still windows-only?)
19:54therube_agone& from that,
19:55libertyerniewyatt8740: take a look at the council's forum/newsgroup status post:
19:56libertyernie"There are a number of Gecko Forks in the wild. We do not plan to switch over to one of them as the basis for SeaMonkey. ... Based on how successful Mozilla is, or if one of the forks gain ground, this might change in the future."
19:56libertyernietherube_agone: I only use 1 extension on android firefox - a button to turn javascript on and off. That shouldn't be too hard to make a webextension of, all it has to do is toggle an internal settings.
19:57wyatt8740libertyernie: I've been trying to make an extension for android firefox to do exactly that but am too incompetent to figure out how to actually get a button added to the UI.
19:57wyatt8740got a link to the source for that addon?
19:57wyatt8740for education's sake
20:07wyatt8740libertyernie: thanks. I've been trying to figure that out on-and-off for a while, but it being on android and being harder to debug made me not want to put the effort in
20:09wyatt8740does this work on a per-page basis? or is it just toggling the config preference?
20:10libertyernieIt's not per page, it's global to the browser.
20:12wyatt8740ah yeah looking at code now.
20:13wyatt8740makes sense
20:13wyatt8740similar to what I was doing in desktop FF
20:13wyatt8740only i was toggling the fallback character encoding to Shift-JIS
20:14wyatt8740(with a config preference)
21:06WG9sSO for those still playing alone (it seems frg has left) hg bisect identified bug 780562 as the trigger of the seamonkey issue. Nothing to do with download manager. I am doing a build with that backed out just be sure.
