00:30joshCan someone remind me how to print a string from Firefox-internal JS for debugging purposes?
06:12hhhh1612hi I want to know about points mentioned in a bug in keyword section.
07:01KWierso|afkhhhh1612: got an example from a specific bug?
07:16hhhh1612KWierso|afk:Bug 1089691
07:16firebothttps://bugzil.la/1089691 NEW, nobody@mozilla.org Convert consumers of removePagesByTimeframe and removePagesFromHost to PlacesUtils.history.removeByF
07:17araiit's separate field than Keywords
07:17arai(I'm not sure how the value of Points field is used tho
07:24hhhh1612arai:np
07:25KWierso|afkhhhh1612: that field is called 'cf_fx_points' internally, I'm not sure if it's currently used by teams
07:25KWierso|afkI think you can just ignore it
07:26KWierso|afkit might be useful for a module owner to track priorities or something, but that shouldn't affect you
07:26hhhh1612KWierso|afk:cool

16:46nabeelomerHello, I wanted help with Gecko's Marionette protocol, can I use the protocol directly without Selenium, and if so are there any Ruby bindings?
16:48Aryxnabeelomer: the #automation channel is better suited for this question

16:49nabeelomerThank you, I will ask there.
18:13Jupetoyou can prompt in what file it is possible to carry out change of the arriving canvas webgl v1 parameters. That to add to them for example 0.5478 - example code: https://jsbin.com/nanodepiza/edit?html,js,output
18:13Jupeto<Jupeto> I rummaged (dom/canvas / *) I couldn't find where it is possible it will be picked up
18:21dhugheI have installed point linux (debian based) on my PC specifically to develop firefox. but when I try to run the bootstrap command to install the requesits I get ths error : NotImplementedError: Bootstrap support for this Linux distro not yet available.
18:23araihttps://dxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/rev/96b36c5f527dd42e680a230839519eee1fc2c9f3/python/mozboot/mozboot/bootstrap.py#156
18:24araiyou might need to add it there
18:25dhugheHi arai
18:26dhugheso add it in the section around line 164?
18:26dhughelike what "point linux"? just add that?
18:26araithe name that is returned by platform.linux_distribution()
18:26araiI'm not sure what the string for point linux tho
18:29dhugheI just looked at my .py file and it is completely different to the one on DXR?!!
18:30dhugheThere is no section like line 164 in it?
18:30araithere are 2 bootstrap.py
18:30araiare you looking the correct one?
18:31dhugheahh probably not then.. where is the one I need to check?
18:31araithe URL contains the path
18:31dhugheIm looking at the one in src dir.
18:31araipython/mozboot/mozboot/bootstrap.py
18:36dhugheI dont have that directory?
18:36dhugheI just did a file search and there are no other files?
18:37dhugheI just used this one ...https://hg.mozilla.org/mozilla-central/raw-file/default/python/mozboot/bin/bootstrap.py
18:42dhughemaybe I should repace it with the one of DXR?
18:42dhughe*replace
18:42araino
18:43dhugheI dont have this directory python/mozboot/mozboot/bootstrap.py?
18:43araiwhich one?
18:45dhughepython/mozboot/mozboot/
18:45araiwhat else do you have?
18:46dhugheIm looking in the etc folder?
18:46araietc?
18:47dhugheyes /etc directory
18:48dhughethere are 4 python directories
18:48arai...?
18:48dhughepython 2.7, 3 and 3.4
18:48araino
18:48araithe python directory is inside mozilla-central
18:50dhugheI dont have a mozilla-cental dir
18:51dhughepython bootstrap.py didnt work
18:52dhugheNotImplementedError: Bootstrap support for this Linux distro not yet available.
18:54araiin that case you need to prepare the environment manually
18:55araiand then clone mozilla-central, and modify the bootstrap script, and then re-run it
18:57dhughesorry Im lost
18:59dhughehow do I prepare it manually?
19:00araihttps://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Developer_guide/Build_Instructions/Linux_Prerequisites
19:00araior, just install mercurial and clone mozilla-central
19:00araiother things can be installed by bootstrap, after fixing the script
19:00dhugheomg
19:01dhugheWhat if I do all that and bootstrap doesnt work?
19:01dhugheShouldnt there be a list of know linux distros that actually work?
19:03dhughethere is like 100 different prerequasits?
19:05dhugheso you think download the souce then run the edited scrpit
19:05araiyes
19:06araiprerequisites for downloading the source is just mercurial
19:06dhugheyes
19:06araiso, install mercurial and clone source
19:06dhugheI know
19:06dhugheI was using windows before
19:06araiand then fix the bootstrap script and run "./mach bootstrap"
19:06dhugheand thought Id try linux as it be easier!!!
19:08dhugheBTW this doesnt do anything in my terminal ... platform.linux_distribution()
19:08araiit's Python
19:08dhughedoesn't print anything for me
19:08araianything?
19:09araino error message?
19:10dhughejust doesnt do anything
19:11araiwhere are you typing?
19:11dhughein a root shell
19:11araiwhat is root shell?
19:11dhugheterminal
19:12araiare you running python?
19:12dhugheno
19:12dhughenever mind its ok
19:32dhugheok so now hg clone doesnt work ... says command not found
19:32dhughe#this is driving me carzy!
19:32araiyou need to install mercurial
19:33dhugheyes
19:33dhugheand how do i do that
19:33dhughethere are no instructions!!
19:33araiit depends on your distro
19:33dhugheIve already done all this before on windows
19:33dhugheI thought it would be so much easier on linux
19:33dhughenow it looks like I have two options
19:34araiit's impossible to support all distros
19:34dhugheeither delete and uninstall my linux altogether and try another in the hope that it might work
19:35dhugheor option 2 download all of the source code and edit a python script in the hope that it might work
21:51dhugheIs it normal for hg clone to not display any progress or any indication of how much time is left? it just says 1.65gb to transfer but it looks like its doing nothing at all
21:51dhughebeen running over an hour now
21:53dhugheIts a bit strange .. on windows it shows the progress / time left
22:14dhugheIs it normal for hg clone to not display any progress or any indication of how much time is left? it just says 1.65gb to transfer but it looks like its doing nothing at all
22:41dhugheI get this error: NotImplementedError: Bootstrap support for this Linux distro not yet available.
22:41dhughewhen i run the bootstrap to setup on linux
22:43dhugheI have cloned the source code and edited the bootstrap.py file .. i.e I tried to add my distro name ... but it still doesnt work??? any suggestions?
