08:25Tomcat|sheriffdutyheycam: ^
08:25heycamTomcat|sheriffduty: oh I have been seeing that (and a couple of related unexpected passes) in my try pushes today
08:25heycamTomcat|sheriffduty: they seem pretty consistent, but I don't know when they came in
08:25Tomcat|sheriffdutyheycam: seems its only on m-c and m-i

08:25ihsiao|sheriffdutybug 1341102?
08:26Tomcat|sheriffdutyheycam: will merge autoland to m-c soon so hopefully this fix it

10:11AryxTomcat|sheriffduty: shall i fix jmaher|afk 's eslint failure on inbound?
10:15jmaher|afkAryx: /me looks
10:16jmaher|afkAryx: I believe I have a fix for it, I don't have a way to tell
10:16jmaher|afkwithout pushing to try and waiting
10:17Aryxjmaher|afk: try |mach lint browser/base/content/test/captivePortal/browser_CaptivePortalWatcher.js|
10:17jmaher|afkAryx: on windows, do you know of any tools to see cr vs crlf in a diff
10:17jmaher|afkoh, got it
10:17jmaher|afkapologies for this
10:18Aryxe.g. Notepad++ has that feature
10:18jmaher|afkwell mach lint is better :)
10:18Aryxit's the first comment line with the bug number which has CRLF
10:18jmaher|afkyeah, I see that and changed it
10:19jmaher|afkwaiting for node.js to install
10:20Tomcat|sheriffdutyheh jmaher|afk is always around , has his frankonian timezone :)
10:20freddybI did not know frankonia had its own timezone ;)
10:25jmaher|afkAryx: ok, verified in notepad++, unable to get mach lint to work
10:25Aryxjmaher|afk: where is it stuck? does it find node?
10:25jmaher|afkit cannot find node, although it found it in the filesystem, it doesn't seem to be by default
10:27freddybsomething with $PATH, maybe
10:27freddybon windows, that's %PATH%, I suppose
10:27Aryxin C:\Users\<Username>, open .profile and set/add export PATH=$PATH:/c/Program\ Files/nodejs/:/c/Users/<Username>/AppData/Roaming/npm/
10:28Aryxand close and launch the console again
10:28Aryxcheck where your node is installed and adopt the path, had to switch from Program Files (x86) to Program Files are I switched to the prerelease build of MozillaBuild 2.3.0
10:29jmaher|afkAryx: that is the right path for me, I don't have a .profile file, let me create one
10:30pulsebotCheck-in: - Henry Chang - Bug 1348626 - Retry when isPinged() failed to avoid false alarm. r=francois
10:37jmaher|afkAryx: ok, got it working
10:37jmaher|afkok, if I push, r=me ?
10:39jmaher|afkAryx: ^ ?
10:40jmaher|afkTomcat|sheriffduty: ^ ?
10:45Tomcat|sheriffdutyjmaher|afk: a=me
10:45jmaher|afkgot it
10:46pulsebotCheck-in: - Joel Maher - Bug 1318389 - fix eslint issue. a=me
10:48freddybTomcat|sheriffduty: Can you check something in for me? I tried to carry an r+ over from bugzilla to reviewboard but that failed. I could wait for the US to wake up to get a 2nd r+, but it's only whitespace changes. anyhow autoland did not like it on Friday. can you take a look?
10:49freddybTomcat|sheriffduty: it's this one
10:50Tomcat|sheriffdutytaking a look
10:55WG9s_Tomcat|sheriffduty: Do you think it might make sense to implement an 'a=eslint' convention for trivial changes?
10:56Tomcat|sheriffdutyckerschb: is the review also valid for ?
10:56Tomcat|sheriffdutyBug 1073952: proper indentation for nsScriptSecurityManager
10:56Tomcat|sheriffdutyfreddyb: i guess the problem is that the 3rd patch also need review
10:57Tomcat|sheriffdutyfreddyb: ckerschb gave already for the first 2 so just part 3 is waiting
10:57Tomcat|sheriffdutyWG9s_: i guess we should at first avoid that failure so a=eslint seems more like a way to ignore eslint at first
10:57Tomcat|sheriffdutyso i would not add this as a convention
10:57jmaher|afkTomcat|sheriffduty: Aryx: eslint is green again; thanks for the help
10:58freddybTomcat|sheriffduty: yeah, but patch 3 had an r+ on bugzilla. I rebased and it got lost. then I Moved from bugzilla to reviewboard and I couldnt carry over r+
10:58WG9s_Tomcat|sheriffduty: Trying to figure out how to have less 'a=me' check-ins
10:58freddybTomcat|sheriffduty: also, the 3rd patch is whitespaces-only
10:59ckerschbTomcat|sheriffduty: just chatted with freddyb about that, in fact my r+ is only for the first 2 patches, the third one shouldn't even be [r=dveditz, ckerschb] but only [r=dveditz]
11:00Tomcat|sheriffdutyckerschb: ok will add this
11:00Tomcat|sheriffdutyfreddyb: ok will fix it
11:00ckerschbTomcat|sheriffduty: thx
11:00freddybTomcat|sheriffduty: thank you!
11:01Gijssmaug: so for bug 1348623 (the click on a document whose inner window isn't the current inner window), do you think there's anything we should do?
11:02Gijssmaug: from the bugreport, it sounds like we could potentially fix the reporter's issue by only stopping the propagation of non-user events (so stop things like load/DCL/unload/pageshow, don't stop click/mousedown/keypress/...)
11:02Gijssmaug: but I don't know if that's a sensible idea :)
11:02Gijssmaug: I'm also wondering if we should be making sure that clicks before the new inner window paints should just go to the new document... but I don't know how hard that is.
11:03smaugGijs: we could possibly limit the original change to chrome docs?
11:04Gijssmaug: "chrome" in what way? :)
11:04smaugclicks should go to the page user sees, but indeed, it is an ancient issue how event handling should work at that point
11:04smaugGijs: pages with system principal
11:04smaugor event xul documents
11:05Gijssmaug: mmhmm. That feels like a bit of a hack though
11:05Tomcat|sheriffdutyfreddyb: pushed it
11:05Gijssmaug: are we convinced the original problem doesn't happen with non-system/HTML documents?
11:06Gijssmaug: I guess I'm nervous on the one hand about web impact, and on the other hand I don't want us to spend too much time on an issue if the only thing we're breaking is this person's mouse gesture script
11:06Gijssmaug: so not sure how to prioritize / if there's anything we could/should be doing
11:06smaugTrying to recall the original issue
11:07smaugand whether that should have been fixed just in JS
11:07Gijssmaug: it *can* be fixed in just JS, I think
11:08Gijssmaug: the original issue was that if you refreshed about:preferences quickly (while it was still being loaded), DOMContentLoaded events for previous documents were arriving into listeners for the new document
11:09Gijssmaug: because the listeners were attached to the window rather than the document
11:09Gijssmaug: fixing it in JS would mean we just add the listeners to the document rather than the window.
11:10freddybTomcat|sheriffduty: ah, needs just another rebase.
11:12freddybI even mid-aired with myself. mondays....
11:13Tomcat|sheriffdutyfreddyb: lol
11:14Tomcat|sheriffdutyyeah i know this feeling :)

11:38whimbooGijs: hi. I tried to force opening the browser check dialog for the refresh firefox test. But I don't get it at all on OS X. Is there something I have to do? Right now its set to the installed Firefox Beta release.
11:38Gijswhimboo: I don't know.
11:39Gijswhimboo: depends what "force opening" means here, right? Maybe just add console logs to see what's going on?
11:40whimbooGijs: so i run "mach run" and Nightly is not the defualt browser. But the checkbox is set to always check.
11:41whimbooshouldnt it open the default browser modal dialog during startup?
11:42Gijswhimboo: I don't understand if you're using nightly or beta now, as you said beta earlier...
11:42Gijswhimboo: I've told you before there's a few different prefs that govern this behaviour
11:42whimbooGijs: i set beta as defualt before so Nightly would bring up the dialog
11:43whimboobut it doesn't
11:43Gijsyeah, that might not work on OS X
11:43Gijsif it uses the executable name or whatever
11:43GijsI really don't know
11:43Gijshave you tried setting Safari or Chrome as the default instead?
11:43GijsHave you just console.log'd the result of whether it thinks it's the default browser in nsBrowserGlue?
11:43whimbooah, good idea. i will try that
11:43Gijsthat seems a lot simpler...
11:43whimbooi will check that. thanks

12:26Tomcat|lunchmkaply: hi, could you look into
12:26pulsebotCheck-in: - Panashe M. Fundira - servo: Merge #15918 - PropertyDeclaration with CSSWideKeyword is parsed (from munyari:whitespace); r=emilio
12:38sheppyHm. I wonder what it would take to create a Mac Safari extension to send a tab to Firefox.
12:38sheppyBecause that'd be handy in cases like right now where I happen to have something open in Safari that I'd like to transfer over.
12:41mkaplyTomcat|lunch: Yes
12:42Tomcat|lunchmkaply: thnaks :)
12:45mkaplyTomcat|lunch: That was my bad. I requested uplift for something forgetting there was a telemetry dependency (not mandatory). I'll back that piece out of Aurora. Sorry about that.
12:46mkaplyTomcat|lunch: Actually, what's the right way to fix that?
12:46mkaplySince I need an a=
12:48Tomcat|lunchmkaply: well i can push the fix or if you want to backout that , i can do that too
12:48Tomcat|lunchwhatever you prefer in this case
12:48mkaplyTomcat|lunch: Pushing this fix would be great. I'll attach it to the bug.
12:48mkaplychecking out aurora now
12:49Tomcat|lunchyeah will do it then after lunch
12:51mkaplysheppy: The tricky part is the Safari extension API doesn't really have a way to invoke things.
12:51mkaplysheppy: What we really need is Sharing support in Firefox (which is quite simple).
12:51sheppymkaply: Hum
12:51mkaplyinvoke an executable that is
12:52sheppymkaply: No kidding. I've been pleading for that for years. It's a crazy simple API (the macOS sharing API)
12:52mkaplysheppy: Yeah, I've written stuff for it. If we had Applescript support, I could do a stand alone sharing extension, but I don't think we have that.
12:52sheppyI could theoretically do the work myself, except I have no time.
12:52sheppyNo, no AppleScript either. Another problem that should be addressed.

13:24Tomcat|sheriffdutyemilio: yeah as Aryx says its more a unexpected fail ;)

14:26achronopSylvestre: ping
14:27Sylvestreachronop, pong
14:28achronopSylvestre: hi, I would like to ask you about the patch you try to apply in Aurora for bug 1345049
14:29Sylvestreachronop, I am evaluating a tool do that for us. This is probably a bug, sorry
14:30achronopSylvestre: sure, not a problem
14:33achronopSylvestre: the problem must be that it does not apply the correct attachment (similar to bug 1342363)
14:34Aryxbaku: hi, test failure for 1340163
14:35froydnjanimato: that's corret
14:35froydnj*correct, even
14:36bakuAryx: back it out. I though I've fixed all the issues before pushing.

14:58igoldan|afkhi, all!
14:59igoldanI could use a diagram with the Developer process overview
14:59freddybsomething like that, igoldan?
15:00igoldanfreddyb: not exactly
15:00igoldanI want to better understand how the mozilla-central, inbound, aurora, beta relate to one another
15:01freddybhm, not sure if there's a diagra
15:01freddybevery code chang goes into mozilla-central by default. this is where we build our nightly releases from.
15:01pulsebotCheck-in: - Catalin Badea - Bug 1342255 - Fix crash in respondWith resolved callback. Don't reset interception if the sw throws after .respondWith(). r=asuth
15:01igoldanI think I found something, but doesn't look it's finished
15:02freddybeverything in current central is merged into aurora every 6 weeks. everything in aurora is merged every 6 weeks into beta. same for beta into release.
15:02freddybsomething going from nightly to release takes 6+6+6 weeks (except when it is uplifted)
15:02freddybuplifting means, a patch goes directly into aurora/beta/release, because it's an urgent fix (e.g., for stability). but those uplifts need extra permissions
15:03igoldanfreddyb: I see
15:04freddybI found

15:04pulsebotCheck-in: - Andrea Marchesini - Bug 1340163 - Use of contentPrincipalInfo.origin in Media, r=jib
15:04igoldanfreddyb: I was not aware of this page
15:05freddybigoldan: mozilla-central is always able to ship and always stable. so patches actually go to inbound first, then we run tests again that on the test servers and _then_ are merged into central after a while.
15:05freddybigoldan: it seems expands on that
15:07igoldanfreddyb: thanks alot! this is the information I was looking for :D
15:07freddybsure, you're welcome
15:08freddybif you want to draw a diagram for your own understanding, remember that our documentation is all wikis and freely editable ;-)
15:08Tomcat|sheriffdutyfreddyb: btw glad we sorted that bugzilla mass change out , so i do not do do this every week :)
15:09igoldanfreddyb: I'll keep that in mind
15:09freddybTomcat|sheriffduty: yeah, so glad
15:09igoldanfreddyb: as it would be quite useful
15:09freddybTomcat|sheriffduty: though I'm a bit afraid of the responsibility that comes with the permissions
15:09freddybTomcat|sheriffduty: afraid is the wrong word. cautious?
15:10Tomcat|sheriffdutyfreddyb: yeah password 123456 does not work anymore with this permissions :)
15:10freddybI just switched fo 123457
15:11Tomcat|sheriffdutyclever! :)
15:11freddybmy secret weapon is to use the last digit similar to the current year. easier to remember.
