17:01telegramBot<pancake> is anyone working on having Servo instead of gecko? i think that would be the base for the reborn of fxos
17:02telegramBot<pancake> im a bit worried about the future of this project, because i had huge expectations and i still think it was a great a project, and still is better than ubuntutouch or sailfish (imho)
17:03telegramBot<erotavlas> @pancake, I af
17:38telegramBot<Fabrice Desr> Servo is far from being usable unfortunately
17:38telegramBot<Fabrice Desr> the only alternative to gecko is blink
17:39telegramBot<KaiRo_at> Servo is a nice option for the future
17:42telegramBot<KaiRo_at> But right now, we need to go with what actually works and bootstrap something, for which something close or equal to Firefox for Android or GeckoView is probably the best option. Once we have something working on an OK level for developers, we can so what the next steps are to move it to the future.
17:43telegramBot<pancake> @Fabrice Desr, really? i tried one year ago and i was able to browse a bit
17:43telegramBot<pancake> and i though it was in a much better situation now
17:44telegramBot<pancake> @Fabrice Desr, and webkit
17:45telegramBot<pancake> i will also like to see the mozilla js engine having the nodejs api to compare both engines properly without dragging the browser, without supporting native modules it shouldnt be too hard to maintain
17:50telegramBot<Fabrice Desr> Yep, servo still has a long list of unsupported features. The web stack is huge
17:53telegramBot<pancake> yeah :(
17:54telegramBot<pancake> but we dont need them all to start playing with b2g-ng :P
17:54telegramBot<pancake> we can maybe focus on having a sailfish-like port on lineage
17:54telegramBot<pancake> they just release a zip that is uncompressed on top of lineage android firmwares
18:02telegramBot<Fabrice Desr> the thing is that servo is not solving any problem we have right now
18:02telegramBot<Fabrice Desr> doing a gonk port of blink would
18:19telegramBot<KaiRo_at> @pancake, Servo is too much in flux to build something on it right now - unless you want to hunt breakages due to its changes rather than working on what makes B2G special ;-)
19:30telegramBot<pancake> @Fabrice Desr, Why?
19:30telegramBot<pancake> Which problems do we have now?
19:30telegramBot<pancake> Because the first thing that comes to my mind is that it's dead
21:33telegramBot<Fabrice Desr> blink has a good track record of being ported to various embedded targets
