07:43kparalhello folks, gnome-shell on wayland just crashed on me during dnf upgrade. that's pretty inconvenient, but my system fortunately survived it seems. can somebody look at the traceback please? my colleague had a similar experience yesterday and had to reinstall his whole system. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1315318
07:43bugbotBug 1315318: Fedora, unspecified, unspecified, ---, otaylor, NEW , [abrt] gnome-shell: _ip_get_path_for_wd(): gnome-shell killed by SIGABRT
21:52lefuentesHi , I need help with this bug , when I maximize and then minimize, the border of windows still is drawn .. https://k61.kn3.net/B/4/5/C/B/8/6AC.jpg
21:53borschty<borschty> my guess would be a graphics driver related issue, otherwise more people would be running into that issue
21:54borschtywhich driver are you using?
21:58lefuentesintel driver
22:03lefuentesborschty, when i remove CLUTTER_PAINT=disable-clipped-redraws:disable-culling from /etc/enviroment , it solved , but the animation become slow
22:04borschtyclutter environment variables are for debugging purposes, not to work around issues
22:06borschtywhich animations are slow now?
22:07lefuentesborschty, show activities
22:07lefuentesminimize, maximized , all
22:08borschtyusing X or wayland?
22:08lefuentesX
22:09borschtyyou could try to use the modesettings driver instead of the intel one, some people say it improved the performance for them
22:10borschtynot sure if it is going to have that much of an impact on the gnome-shell animations though
22:11lefuentesborschty, you use X or wayland ?
22:11borschtyX with the intel driver
22:12lefuenteswhat intel gpu you have?
22:14borschtyan older one, i always keep forgetting the exact chipset, because the intel naming system is so weird
22:14borschty00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
22:15lefuentesborschty, my intel gpu
22:15lefuentes00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
22:23lefuentesborschty, here is my bug , https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=771815
22:23bugbotBug 771815: mutter, blocker, Normal, ---, mutter-maint, REOPENED , Constant screen flickering with 3.21 and 3.22
22:23borschtyhttps://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/4tsxyd/whats_the_cause_of_gnomes_lag_is_it_possible_to/d5kyfjt/ not related to the performance issue, but the environment variables you were using
22:34lefuentesborschty, I removed the enviroment variables, and solved it, and add this in intel driver config, Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
22:34lefuentesjust I lag when maximize and minize animation
22:35borschtynot sure if there is much that can be done about that
22:35borschtyas i said, you could try the modesettings driver
22:37lefuentesI play games on Steam, if i remove intel driver I couldn't play
22:49borschtyi'm talking about the X driver
22:51borschtythe modesettings driver is capable of supporting opengl, it even uses it for 2d acceleration rather than using the intel custom acceleration stuff like uxa or sna
22:51borschtyin some cases that works better, in some cases it's worse
23:02joekampradecho echo ...
